Visiting Grandparents in Dallas (Aug. 2016)

March 17, 2017

The cutest grandparents you ever did see.

My grandma’s health started to deteriorate rather quickly last year, so my parents paid for each of the kids to fly down to Dallas to spend some quality time with her. This was Ben’s first time visiting Dallas and spending an extended period of time with my mom’s parents.

The last time either of us saw them was at our wedding four years earlier, when my grandpa collapsed right after our ceremony and had to be rushed to the ER—they found a leaky valve in his heart, and they had to spend about two more months in Minnesota until he was healed. Luckily he’s doing much better, but my grandma is now struggling with some Alzheimer’s and atrophy problems.

Quick Trip to Portland (July 2016)

Family Time in Zuidlaren, Nederlands

Ben is half-Dutch from his mom’s side. So after landing in Amsterdam on Wednesday morning, we immediately took a train to Groningen, about two hours away, where Ben’s great-aunt Agnes and her husband Herm Jan picked us up. They live about 20 minutes from Groningen in the village of Zuidlaren. Their house used to be…

National Parks (April 2016)

I’ve lived in Utah for almost seven years and, until this past April, had never visited any of the state’s national parks. So, Ben and I changed that over the course of two weekends by visiting both Zion (not “Zion’s” or “Zions.” Locals will roll their eyes at you if you say either.) and Arches.

Magical Morocco

Guys, this is a long one. But this trip was one of the highlights of my traveling life and unlike any place I’ve been to before, so I’m not about to skimp on pictures or words. It was my (and Ben’s) first time in an Islamic country, too, so it was extra unique and interesting…
